Trying my hand at poetry again.

I watch your isolation; cast-off,alone in grief,
because of all the things you'd done you cannot find relief.
Yet still to do what's right and true, to keep them safe from harm,
And try to warn of danger those who scoff at your alarm.

A legend born from long ago; a knight whose trapped from time,
while I am but a mortal who just fights to make words rhyme.
And yet we are alike, we two, who live a prisoned life,
We both feel need for comfort thru those who do cause us strife.

Why do we do this? I don't know-- were stuck in mud it seems,
You cannot let your family go; I follow on that theme.
We lie upon our beds to rest, but not for us soft sleep,
The walls alone are witness as we, solitary, weep.

I see my life as a deep weight as heavy as a stone.
You walk thru life with heart awash in sins you can't atone.
And yet despite the years gone by you struggle to go on.
Can I do less than follow you as we both seek God's dawn?

I see a hope in your blue eyes that centuries can't taint,
Abused and beaten by loved ones and still your hopes don't faint.
Please, won't you let me walk with you, my faithful, longing knight,
And let us stand together as we struggle toward the light.
