Of Silence

Can be archived by Mel and whomever. Just let me know.

I don't own them. I don't even know where this came from---its not my favorite theme. So don't thwak me---I'm a whipflash victim of a hit and run muse that can't decide between humor and drama.

Filk of Simon & Garfunkel's: The Sound Of Silence

At the time before the Rend,
When the vampire Code did end
There lived a Knight who was held in disdain
For his kind could not fathom his pain
Yet this vampire
Who was living all alone
To atone,
Still kept the vow of silence

For centuries his beast held sway,
Now this lust he held at bay,
For his mind was holding fast a dream,
A time when he could his soul redeem
And his heart that was beating almost still
Would soon refill
And leave the sway of silence

But then there came a lawless band
Who quickly swept across the land
And these vampires left the honored Code
Feeding on the blood of men untold
And the Knight, hearing battle far away
Cried "foul play!"
And left his home of silence.

Then as the vampires faced their prey
The lonely Knight got in their way
And the Knight shouted with his warning,
At the lines that were forming,
And the Knight said:
"The lives of the mortals are greater
than our evil needs!
And our deeds."
And all about fell silent.

But just as he was standing there,
An angry vampire called: "Beware!"
Then his father fought for him in vain,
O'er the morals that he did profane,
And the Knight with the vision still of his soul,
Paid the toll,
And lay there still and silent.

Then the Hunters filled with rage,
That their champion was caged,
And when the morning came with glowing light,
to reveal the battle's gory sight,
T'was the Knight who alone wept crystal tears
unclear for years
And each drop fell in silence.

For his brothers were all gone,
Remains turned ashes with the dawn,
And the Knight arose and took his place,
Amidst the remains of the human race,
And the heart that was lonely for so long,
Now belonged,
And left the night its silence.
